Amazon A+ Content Planning Checklist

Build a clear reader journey before opening A+ Content Manager. This checklist turns positioning, modules, assets, accessibility, compliance, ASIN mapping, and launch verification into one repeatable workflow.

A+ Content appears in the From the Publisher section of an Amazon detail page. It can combine images, text, and comparison tables to help readers understand a book or connected body of work. The method below was generalized from a completed publishing project. Its identifying details remain private.

Planning principle: A+ Content is not a second book description. It is a visual path that answers who the work is for, what connects it, why the author is credible, where a reader can begin, and what feeling should remain.

1. Before you start

Confirm eligibility. The book is published through KDP and its ASIN appears on your Bookshelf.

Define the audience. Write one sentence describing the reader and the need this content should address.

Choose the scope. Decide whether the project represents one book, a series, or a connected collection.

Choose the marketplace and language. Plan a separate submission wherever KDP requires one.

Record the durable message. Avoid claims that will become inaccurate when the catalog grows or a promotion ends.

2. Plan the five-part reader journey

Identity. State what the book, series, or collection is and why it exists.

Pathways. Organize the catalog around three durable themes, questions, or reader interests.

Authority. Explain the author perspective, experience, or research approach without unsupported claims.

Entry points. Select representative books that give different readers a sensible place to begin.

Invitation. End with a clear idea, emotion, or next step that fits the reader journey without using prohibited purchase language.

3. Choose modules before producing assets

Sketch the complete sequence and assign one job to each module.

Select the KDP module type before finalizing image dimensions.

Record the current minimum and recommended dimensions shown for each selected module.

For a comparison chart, choose no more than five Bookshelf ASINs per chart. Use another chart only when it improves the reader journey.

Use high-resolution RGB JPG or PNG files. Confirm the current file-size limit in KDP for the selected module before uploading.

Keep important text in KDP text fields where the module allows it. Avoid tiny embedded text, blurry images, watermarks, and reused detail-page gallery images.

4. Review copy and compliance

Remove prices, discounts, promotions, availability claims, and purchase commands such as buy now.

Remove customer reviews and time-sensitive language such as new, latest, on sale, holiday references, or Kindle Unlimited availability.

Remove guarantees, shipping details, QR codes, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and external calls to contact the author.

Verify every factual claim. If using a permitted publication or public-figure quote, follow KDP's current quantity and source requirements.

Confirm spelling, punctuation, title capitalization, and consistency across every module.

5. Build for accessibility and mobile reading

Write concise alt text that accurately describes the purpose of every meaningful image.

Do not use alt text for keywords, hidden marketing copy, or repeated captions.

Check contrast, type size, crop safety, and reading order on desktop and mobile previews.

Confirm that the message remains understandable when an image cannot be seen.

6. Map formats, ASINs, and marketplaces

Create a worksheet listing each book, format, ASIN, marketplace, language, and intended module role.

Apply one approved A+ project to the relevant ebook and print ASINs when the same content fits those formats.

Check every comparison title and destination before submission.

Track separate versions when copy or language changes by marketplace.

7. Submit, verify, and maintain

Preview every module on desktop and mobile, then submit through A+ Content Manager.

Record the project name, submission date, ASINs, marketplace, language, and approval status.

After approval, verify the live detail pages. Approval and live publication are separate checkpoints.

Allow for KDP's stated publication window, then investigate any ASIN that still does not display the content.

Archive editable source files, exported images, copy, alt text, ASIN mapping, and the final approval record.

Recheck KDP guidance before reusing the project, and review the content whenever the catalog or positioning changes.
